Getting back into the swing of things!

  • I haven't posted here for quite awhile.  My daughter started taking Yaz birth control as instructed by her OBGYN for endometriosis last February. Within 3 months she began to have headaches, but didn't associate them with the drug.  She is 32 years old.   Last August 27, she had a stroke while driving.  She managed to get herself off of the road because she felt dizzy, but realized that her arms were paralyzed.   Her husband was sleeping in the back of the truck and she somehow managed to get her seatbelt off and get to him so he could call 911.  By the time we got to her it was 10 hours later.   She didn't know us, she didn't know her name, she was oblivious to what was going on.  She was given a drug that dissolves clots upon arrival to the hospital called TPA.   In three days she was released to go home, within a month she was done with her physical therapy and now she has passed her driving exam and has recovered completely, except for a little brain fog.  So, we are praising God for her recovery and for His mighty hand in saving her and healing her.   If you have daughters on oral birth control, I urge you to pass this story on to them.   A friend of my daughters is still struggling with paralysis and communication after her stroke.  She did not fare as well as my daughter has and will have a lifetime of disability because of it.   Something in this particular type of birth control increases the risk of stroke by three times.  The Neurologist has said that stroke used to be an old persons disease, but he is seeing many more young people having strokes now.
